Saturday, January 30th and 9 & 10:30pm: Pete Robbins & Silent Z. Featuring Jesse Neuman, cornet, electronics; Mike Gamble , guitar, electronics; Eivind Opsvik, bass, electronics; and Tommy Crane, drums.
NY Times dubs Silent Z “an intimate jazz-rock hybrid” that features “highly developed harmony, complex meter and searing improv” (Time Out New York). The music combines Robbins‘s signature compositions with highly compelling group improvisation. Robbins will release a “siLENT Z – live” album, his fourth as a leader, on his own Hate Laugh Music label in May, 2010. The album contains material from two concerts recorded live at Cornelia Street in the winter of 2008-9. Cover’s just $10.
